Autumn, leadership and the University of Alberta

This was our fourth year of involvement with the Gold College program at the University of Alberta. Visitors always hear of the beautiful river valley and indeed it was in full and resplendent Fall colours again this year.
The Gold College Leadership course began with the Faculty of Medicine in 2012. We at EITC are one component of this 10 month leadership development endeavour.
Over time, the Gold college Leadership course that the University of Alberta provides has grown and become available to leaders in all faculties across campus. Our role is to provide an opportunity to expand self-awareness from an emotional intelligence perspective and facilitate the inclusion and execution of these competencies going forward in the participants various leadership roles. This year, as in all previous years, we provided emotional intelligence assessments for faculty and staff and a one day course on leadership and EI.
We had a great time, and all three cohorts of 24 people were motivated, engaged and excited about new possibilities in their respective leadership roles.
Working with this dynamic group of people inspires me to continue my commitment to my own lifelong learning.
